Whale and dolphin watching

Whale and dolphin watching in Sri Lanka is an exciting way to see amazing ocean creatures up close. Surrounded by the Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka is one of the best places to see blue whales, sperm whales, and dolphins like spinner and bottlenose dolphins.

Key locations for these tours include Mirissa, Trincomalee, and Kalpitiya. Mirissa, on the southern coast, is particularly famous for its whale watching tours, especially from November to April, when blue whales are most commonly seen. Trincomalee, on the eastern coast, offers sightings from March to August, while Kalpitiya is renowned for its large pods of dolphins, best observed from December to April.
